We Are The Champions!

MNYL Division 2 Winners 2008

After a long hard season the U12s were crowned MNYL  Division 2  Champions  when they beat  Wigmore  5-3.

They were fired up from the first whistle and scored  in the  first minute when Joshua Brum scored from close range.  Top scorer Dylan Damonse added a second in the 14^th minute with a great finish. The East looked like they would go on and dominate the match but Wigmore gave them something to think about by pulling a goal back in the 22^nd minute.

At halftime, the East looked comfortable being 2-1 up and went further ahead in the first minute of the second half when the outstanding Stevie G scored a well deserved goal. East scored again when Stevie added his second and with only 15 minutes remaining East must have felt that the title was in the bag.

Wigmore had other ideas and pulled a goal back and then put the East under pressure. The East started to get nervous and couldn’t seem to keep hold of the ball. Wigmore then turned up the pressure another notch by pulling another goal back making the score 4-3 with just over 4 minutes to go. The East managed to hold on and Damonse settled the match and the title by scoring with the last kick of the match, much to the relief of the loyal parents and supporters.

Great celebrations followed with the Manager and his Assistant showering the team in Champagne.

The under 12s finish the season off on Sunday 09-03-08 with an away game against second placed rivals Anchorians.

East won the reverse game 4-0 with goals from Goldsmith 2, Stupple and Moore.

Saturdays 9.30-10.30am – Minster College 3G Artificial pitch.
